Public Hearing Drug Task Force Grant Minutes

Present:  Town Manager Andrew Dorsett, Chairman Carrie Gendreau, Vice Chairman Chad Stearns, Selectman Chad Stearns, Executive Secretary Ceil Stubbings.

Others Present:  Chris Tyler (PD), Chad Miller (FD), Karen Noyes (Finance Director)

Stearns called the public hearing to order at 4:45 PM.

The Selectmen will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, April 13, 2020 at 4:45 PM, Remote Audio Access as prescribed by RSA 31:95-b, Section III, and RSA 91A: 2 to discuss the acceptance and expenditure of unanticipated money from the State, Federal or other governmental unit or private sources by the Selectmen. 

For the purpose of accepting a State Grant for the Attorney General’s Drug Task Force in the amount of $75,000.00 per state fiscal year and approved to the Littleton Police Department.  The time period for this funding is from Governor and Council approval through 6/30/2021.  This hearing is being conducted in accordance with NH RSA 31:95b.

Chris Tyler hoped the board would accept the grant of $75,000 so the department could effectively work on the drug abuse issues.  Dorsett said this supports Article 17 that was approved at Town Meeting.  Tyler stated it will help support the position.  Stearns stated that it’s great the department was able to get the funding in order to support the position.  The grant also established a partnership with the Department of Justice.  Gendreau said that Greenup Day was approaching and normally we have had someone from the police department to advise people on the issue of finding used needles and the meth bottles found disposed of Gendreau asked if someone would be there or if there would be an informational sheet available advising people how to handle the issue.  Tyler said the department was putting together an information sheet so the public would know what to do.  Tyler then asked who would be the best contact person to send the information to.  Dorsett said to contact Chris Wilkins from the Parks & Recreation Department.  Gendreau said they would keep this public hearing open until 5:15 PM.  Stearns made the motion to accept the $75,000 grant from the Attorney General’s Drug Task Force.  Emerson seconded the motion.  Motion passed 3-0.  The public hearing closed at 5:15 PM.
