FROM THE LOCAL SUBCOMITTEE OF THE CONNECTICUT RIVER JOINT COMISSIONS
The Committee would like to invite everyone to a presentation about New Hampshire's newly updated Shoreland Protection Act.
Shorelands are special places - here at the edge of land and water, the way we use the land affects water quality, recreation, public health, wildlife habitat, erosion, fisheries, and scenic value....all of which can affect the local economy.
WHEN: Thursday, January 29 (snow date Thursday, Februay 5) at 7:30 PM
WHERE: Littleton Community House, Heald Room
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This workshop is for anyone who owns, manages, or sells land near a river, stream, lake, or pond, contractors and consultants who assist shorefront landowners, educators, and those in town government (select board, planning board, conservation commission).
WHAT: New Hampshire's shoreland law, on the books for many years, has just been updated by the Legislature. Come find out what this means for you and the shorelands in our town.
This program will start with a short presentation by CRJC Conservation Director Adair Mulligan about our Subcommittee's new Connecticut River Water Resources Management Plan and our findings about shorelands for this part of the river valley. Jay Aube of the NH Department of Environmental Services will follow with a slide show about the updated law, why it's needed, how it works and how the new law is simpler to understand and use. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.
