Tax Collection Questions


When will the sewer bill go out?

The sewer bill goes out in April, and then again in October.

When will the tax bill go out?
The tax bill goes out in late May or early June, and then again in late October or early November.

What determines my sewer bill?
Your sewer bill is based on water usage. If your sewer bill is up, has your water use increased? Check for possible leaks, or consider water conservation measures.

How do I obtain a statement of my account?
We will provide you with a statement upon request. You can pick the statement up or have it mailed to you.

Town Clerk Questions


What are the Town Clerk's office hours?
See the Town Clerk's page for hours and fax number.

How do I obtain a birth, death, or marriage certificate?
Birth, death, and marriage certificates are done in the Town Clerk's office. You can download applications on the Town Clerk's page.

When do I register my vehicle?
Vehicle registration renewals are sent out in the mail a few days prior to the renewal month.

Do I need to register my dog?
All dogs residing in the Town of Littleton need to be registered with the Town Clerk. You can download an application on the Town Clerk's page.

How do I get an absentee ballot?
There are separate forms to fill out for school and town ballots. You must complete both forms to receive both ballots. You can access those forms on-line by clicking here.

Public Works Questions


Where do I go for permits?

Permits are acquired through the Town Office. Contact the Planning & Zoning Office for further questions regarding permits. Click here for a list of permits to download.

How often are the streets and sidewalks plowed and salted?
Barring breakdown or equipment failure, routes are on 4-4 1/2 hour rotations.

When do the roads get repaved?
Roads are repaved on a prescheduled time frame, and priority is based on condition.

Water isn't running through my driveway culvert, who's responsible?
It's the homeowner's responsibility, not the Town's. The Town can clean/fix it based on impact to public right of way. Lower priority if only impacting their property.

Who takes care of fallen or downed trees?
If it's a safety hazard, the Town will share the cost with the property owner. If it's in a right of way, it is the Town's property and will handle it.

Who deals with hazards or obstacles?
Highway Department.

The Town sewer is backed up, who's going to take care of it?
Often it's a private sewer problem, verify with a plumber first. If it really is the Town's fault, the Town will take care of it.

My lawn was damaged by the plow or other trucks, will the Town take care of this?
Yes, the Town will repair the damage, but the time frame is mid-May or later.

What are the hours of the Police Department?

The Police Department Administrative Office is open to the public Monday-Friday from 8:00am-6:00pm (excluding holidays). There are Police Officers on duty 7 days a week, 24 hours a day; this includes holidays.

The number to call in the event of a non-emergency is 603-444-2422.

Where is the Police Department located?
The Police Department is located at 2 Kittridge Lane in Littleton.

  • From the North: Take I-93 South to exit 43. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto West Main Street. Travel approximately one mile and the Littleton Police Department is located on the left prior to the Littleton Fire Department.
  • From the South: Take I-93 North to exit 43. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto West Main Street. Travel approximately one mile and the Littleton Police Department is located on the left prior to the Littleton Fire Department.


How do I contest a parking ticket?

You may go to www.littletonpd.org and download the "Parking Ticket Appeal Form" under the "Forms and Documents" tab or you may appeal it in person Monday - Friday at the police department during normal business hours.

What are the hours of operation of the parking meters?
The parking meters are enforced Monday-Saturday  9:00am-5:00pm. Handicap spaces are enforced 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

How to obtain a copy of a police report? 
You may go to www.littletonpd.org and download the "Report Request Form" under the "Forms and Documents" tab or you make make the request in person Monday - Friday at the police department during normal business hours

What are the hours of the Fire Department?

The Fire Department is open to the public 7 days a week, 24 hours a day; this includes holidays.

The number to call in the event of an emergency is 911.

What number do I call in the event of a non-emergency?
The number to call in the event of a non-emergency is 444.2137 or 444.2218, which is also the fax number.

Where is the Fire Department located?

Do I need a fire permit? If so, when may I obtain a fire permit?
Yes, a fire permit is needed and may be obtained at anytime.

How may I obtain a fire permit?
To obtain a fire permit, stop in at the Fire Department.

How much does a fire permit cost?
There is no cost for a fire permit.

Are there any rules/regulations to have a fire?
There are rules and regulations to have a fire. This information may be found in a pamphlet at the Fire Department.

What are the Transfer Station's hours of operation?

Tuesday-Thursday 12:00 noon-3:00pm 
Friday & Saturday: 8:00am-3:00pm
Closed Sunday and Monday

When are the burn dump hours?
Tuesday and Thursday 11:00am-3:00pm, Saturday 8am-4pm. HOLIDAYS CLOSED

Does the Transfer Station accept asbestos?
Not accepted

Does the Transfer Station accept antifreeze?
Accepted from do-it-yourself residential. Littleton residents only. No commercial antifreeze accepted.

Does the Transfer Station accept ashes?
Not accepted

Does the Transfer Station sell town bags?
Not sold at Transfer Station. Cost: $1.35 for 20 gal size and $2.00 for 33 gal size. Sold at: Shaw's, Aubuchon Hardware, Brooks, Rite Aid, Jiffy Mart, Simon's Market, Porfido's Market, Irving Mainway.

What should I know about the burn dump?
It's open to Littleton residents only.

  • Brush & limbs no greater than 5" in diameter.
  • Clean un-painted, untreated wood only. (Example: plywood is treated wood)

Does the Transfer Station accept demolition?

See price schedule. We accept only small limited amounts. No more then a pick up truck full at a time. See commercial hauler list for large amounts.

Are dump stickers required to use the Transfer station?
Dump stickers are not required.

Can I recycle my electronics at the Transfer Station?
Call the Transfer Station for details.

Does the Transfer Station accept florescent bulbs?
Littleton residents only. No charge. Limited to 32 linear feet per calendar quarter.

Does the Transfer Station accept household hazardous waste?
Once a year. Household hazardous waste day - call Transfer Station for details. (Commercial hazardous waste - call Transfer Station for details.)

Does the Transfer Station accept liquid waste?
Liquid waste is not accepted

Can I recycle oil and filters at the Transfer Station, and does it cost anything?
No charge, do-it-yourself residential used oil only, also oil filters.

Can I recycle paint at the Transfer Station?
Only on Household Hazardous Waste Day. Call the transfer station for details on latex paint disposal.

Does it cost anything to drop off sawdust and/or woodchips?
From untreated wood there is no charge. From treated wood, it will be charged as demolition.

Can the Transfer Station shred documents for me?

  • For Littleton businesses and residents.
  • Anytime 8am - 3:30 pm Tues. - Sat.
  • For very large amounts, 10 File size boxes or more, please call for a time.

Can I drop off yard waste at the Transfer Station, and does it cost anything?
No charge. Leaves, grass clippings, garden clippings, garden debris, apples, etc.
